Hi Samuel, I definitely believe in public/city transportation such as subways and buses, especially when traveling. Some cities just aren't set up for that, obviously. It's great that Asia is helpful in that way. I look forward to visiting soon!

Miruna, What a lovely sensibility you have about the subject. And it's so true. While people tend to hold certain places on a pedestal, every place (just as every person) has their positive and negative qualities. But, it's finding the balance between the two that makes a thing or place (or person) special. Thank you for your insight!

Such a lovely post! I've only been once in Paris and maybe the city was a bit below expectations, but I think this happen to most of us,travelers because we expect to find the Paris of our books, the city of our dreams and when we see a speck of dirt floating on the Seine we rush to verdict, which is sad. Paris is wonderful and it would be a shame not to get to know it and feel it with all of our senses.

I've heard about this in passing as well, and maybe I'm biased as a Paris super-fan, but I think that while there are plenty of let-downs in any famous place if you look hard enough for them, the amazing thing about a city like this is there are so many little things that totally DO live up to the hype, to the charm, to the romantic mythology. And boy when you happen to find one of those moments, where the idealized fantasy of Paris and its reality line up so closely, it's something pretty freakin magical.

Makes me wonder: what do these poor souls think when they see a Big Mac on TV and then open the box to see one in real life? Oh, the horror! :)
